For Adults

There are a great many restaurants and bars at the Río Dulce. Casa Perico is just across the river from Monkey Bay Marina, as is the Cayuco Club at Mario's Marina, not to mention Catamaran Hotel, a fixture at the Río. Try Ranchón Mary under the bridge, or venture to Dennis Beach for a day's stay, or longer. Feeling like pizza? Río Bravo restaurant in Fronteras has a good one. You can call them on the phone at 7930-5167 to order ahead or for pick up. Another good place, just by Río Bravo Pizza, is La Lancha restaurant. Jessica is a great cook!

For Kids

No need (impossible) to get bored while down here. At the marina, we have kayaks, a sunfish sailboat, and many other ammenities for children. Behind the marina, there is a canopee tour available at Planeta Río. Mario's Marina , Bruno`s and Tijax have swimming pools. If you are lucky, you may get to see the howler monkeys just at the marina. Otherwise, just take a kayak into the creek in Monkey Bay, which will lead you to the howlers about 50% of the time.

Animal Sightings

We tow groups of manatees, one small one and one large, make its way from the Golfete to Lake Izabal on April 30, 2006.
